Is Taylor Swift’s ‘Dear John’ About John Mayer?

“Innocent” is about Kanye West. “Back to December” might be about Taylor Lautner. “Mean” is all about her critics. And it appears that John Mayer may even be the subject of a song penned by Taylor Swift for her forthcoming album, Speak Now, due October 25.

While Swift isn’t naming names on “Dear John” — well, last names at least — she doesn’t shy away from calling out someone for a love gone terribly wrong. There’s no confirmation that the tune is about Mayer, but some lyrics that have appeared online have everyone wondering if he’s the John she’s singing about.

In the song, Swift really gives it to the aforementioned guy, singing, “Dear John/ I see it all now that you’re gone/ Don’t you think I was too young/ To be messed with/ The girl in the dress/ Cried the whole way home/ I should’ve known.”

Further on, she sings, “It was wrong/ Don’t you think 19’s too young/ To be played/ By your dark, twisted games/ When I loved you so.”

A teenage Swift collaborated with the 30-something Mayer on a tune titled “Half of My Heart,” which appeared on his 2009 album, Battle Studies, and the two had been rumored to have dated for a short period after they worked on the track.

Additional leaked lyrics from “Dear John” include: “My mother accused me of losing my mind/ But I swore I was fine/ You’ll add my name to your long list of traitors who don’t understand/ And I’ll look back in regret, I ignored what they said/ ‘Run as fast as you can.’ ”

Strangely enough, the last line of this verse is very similar to one written by the subject of “Innocent,” West, in his single “Runaway” — off his forthcoming November release, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy — which he performed at the VMAs last month.

Swift recently discussed “Dear John” with the New York Post, admitting, “There’s actually no surprise person on this record.” She added: “I will be excited for you to hear that song, though.”

My Chemical Romance Say ‘Na Na Na’ Video Is Their ‘Biggest Moment’

In their near-decade of existence, My Chemical Romance has had plenty of rather huge moments: touring with Green Day, premiering the first single from their Black Parade album some 70 stories above New York City and covering Bob Dylan for the “Watchmen” soundtrack, just to name a few.

But according to the band themselves, all of those achievements pale in comparison to their sprawling, spastic video for “Na Na Na”. To hear them tell it, just making the clip was the biggest achievement of their entire career … because it capped a long journey back from the brink.
“It was a really big moment for the band. It was a really special moment, because it was all of us together, acting, living it, being part of it, like living the actual dream that we had all talked about … and then to physically be in it?” MCR frontman Gerard Way told MTV News. “It was, to me, the biggest moment ever, being in this band. It used to be when I walked on the set of [the] ‘Black Parade’ [video], but now it’s that moment where I can remember the sun shining on us, and there’s dirt everywhere and sand and we’re all running around firing ray guns. That was the biggest moment to me.”

And though, by his own estimation, Way spent “three … or four years” toiling away on the basic concept of the “Na Na Na” video (and MCR’s brand-new Killjoys reinvention), his greatest achievement as co-director was creating a visceral, hard-charging thrill ride for his bandmates. And years from now, that’s what they’ll remember most about the clip.

“It was incredible … it was so much fun,” guitarist Frank Iero laughed. “Any time you get a chance to drive really fast in the desert, shooting ray guns at dudes in Dracula masks … are you kidding me?”

Justin Bieber To Release Acoustic Album

Justin Bieber has revealed that this holiday season he’s going to release an acoustic album. He made the announcement via Twitter.

“Curious…What is your favorite song on MY WORLD and MY WORLD 2.0?? If you could remix any song with another artist which would it be? And who would you want me to duet with?? and on which song?? Thanks,” he initially tweeted before spilling a few more beans about the forthcoming release.

In addition to old tunes, it seems this album will feature a brand-new song as well. “hey dankanter I think it’s time to make an UNPLUGGED album for the fans for the holidays….or maybe we already did…hmmmm,” he then tweeted to Dan Kanter, the singer’s musical director and guitarist. “Maybe we need to give everybody an UNPLUGGED acoustic album with that new song I cut in Hawaii for the holidays…thoughts???”

Bieber, who plays acoustic guitar during many of his live performances, then revealed that he has already recorded songs for the album. Further information, including the release date and the album’s title, was not available at press time. “So I’m thinking about breaking out the acoustic guitar and having some fun… …so an UNPLUGGED album for the HOLIDAYS????” he wrote. “Listening to tracks from the new UNPLUGGED acoustic album. feeling really good about it. dankanter u excited. back to the roots.”

Kanter tweeted about the vibe of the album. “@justinbieber Loving the percussion… Cajones and congas!” he teased. “Definitely an influence from our travels around the world!”

At the VMAs, Bieber revealed that he is working on an album of all-new music as well. “[It'll] probably [come out] fourth quarter next year,” he said. “Drake is gonna be on that album; I’m not sure [who else]. I’m gonna ask him if he can get [Lil] Wayne on there.”
